Preparation for the Interview
  • Brief yourself on the company: web site, newspaper articles, networking....
  • Thoroughly re-read the job description or advert in order to identify key points and prepare concrete examples and questions
Presentation
  • Think about the first impression you are going to make with the person you meet
  • Out of respect for the person you are meeting, be well turned out, but don't put on your Sunday best!
  • Watch out for slang expressions: "outfit" "dosh" -the person interviewing you is not your fellow student!
  • Prepare your documents: CV and attachments, so as to be able to show them if necessary
  • Be on time and try not to party too late the night before

Content of the Interview
  • Don't put yourself under pressure: your interviewer has a position to fill, you are perhaps the solution.
  • Try to identify what interested him in your CV: internship? linguistic capacity? ....
  • Try to make your interviewer talk, reply precisely to his questions, repeat the sentence if in doubt
  • Reply honestly
  • Ask questions on the company, even if you already have information from outside sources, so as to show your interest in them
  • Don't ask for your career plan straight off - prove yourself first
  • Adapt your replies to match the person conducting the interview: an human resource manager is not a computer engineer. Don't drown him in technical details, a Line Manager will be able to reply to your technical questions, but won't necessarily know everything on the LPP....
  • Don't leave the last person to interview you without knowing what will happen next: when should you have a reply, will there be a second interview if everything is positive? If the planned date elapses, you can then take the initiative to telephone.
  • Be prepared with references: last employer or in the case of juniors: professors or the person responsible for your internships.
Follow-up after the Interview
  • Write down the positive and negative points of the interview
  • Do a self-analysis of your replies during the interview, in order to improve for the next one
  • If you are enthusiastic, write and express your feelings to the company
  • Follow-up with the company if the reply date planned has elapsed

Moral
  • 60% to 70% of the recruitment will be based on your personality
  • It is easier to acquire knowledge than to change your manner of being
